Theme & presentation
I’ve sat through enough “majestic wildlife” slots to be wary the moment a bison snorts steam at me, and 10 Flaming Bisons leans hard into that well-worn North American plains fantasy. Push Gaming released this one in December 2024, and to their credit the studio’s usual polish is all present: crisp, chunky symbols, a warm dusk-lit prairie backdrop, and that unfussy, tactile animation Push does so well. The flaming bisons themselves are the money shot, glowing amber against the reels whenever a jackpot tier lurks. It’s handsome without being showy. That said, “handsome prairie slot” is not exactly virgin territory in 2025, and nothing here made me sit up in surprise. Competent, atmospheric, faintly generic.
How it plays
Standard-issue on the surface: 5 reels, 3 rows, and a modest 20 paylines in the base game. Stakes run from 0.10 up to 100 a spin, and there’s an optional Push-Up Ante Bet (which expands the grid) plus a Feature Buy for the impatient. The base game is fine but unremarkable, largely a holding pattern while you wait for two things — the jackpot Bison collection, more importantly, the free spins. The rhythm is classic medium-vol Push: small dribbles, the occasional decent line, long enough stretches of nothing to make you eye the Buy button. Which, of course, is exactly the intent.
The feature
The headline is the Free Spins round, triggered by landing 3, 4, or 5 Totem scatters for 8, 10, or 12 spins respectively. Here’s where the grid comes alive: it can expand upward from 3 rows toward a taller layout. During the round, landed Totem symbols fill a meter — four Totems unlocks the next Locked Row, each unlock granting a handful of extra spins and widening the ways to pay (up to 60 lines when fully expanded). Running alongside it throughout is the Jackpot Bison mechanic: land a jackpot Bison beside enough regular Bison symbols and you bank an instant prize across four tiers — 15x Mini, 50x Minor, 500x Major, and the 5,000x Mega. It’s a tidy two-layer system, and when the rows are unlocking and the bisons are lining up it does generate a proper flutter of anticipation. You can buy in for 75x the bet if you’d rather skip the courtship.
The numbers, straight
- Max win: 5,602x your stake (confirmed across Hideous Slots — reliable)
- RTP: 96.26% headline; operators can dial in nastier variants around 94.4%, 88.17% or 85.33%, so always check the paytable
- Volatility: Medium
- Reels/ways: 5 reels, 3 rows base (expands to as many as 5 rows / 60 lines during free spins), 20 paylines at base
- Hit rhythm: Steady small hits, meaningful money gated firmly behind the free spins and jackpot Bisons
Verdict
10 Flaming Bisons is a well-made, thoroughly pleasant slot that never once tries to reinvent anything. The row-unlocking free spins and the Mega-topped jackpot ladder give it enough of a hook to keep you engaged, and the medium volatility means you’re not being flayed alive between features. But the 5,602x ceiling is genuinely modest by today’s standards — plenty of medium-vol releases offer more headroom — and the base game is forgettable. It’s a solid rainy-afternoon spin, not a keeper.
SlotWhizz rating: 3.3/5. A competent, good-looking grind that does nothing wrong and little that’s memorable; and remember the RTP is under 100% by design, so the house edge is baked in on every single spin.
