Theme & presentation

Rich Wilde is back, and by now the man has looted more temples than a whole museum’s worth of curators combined. Pearls of Vishnu (Play’n GO, 2024) drops him into a sun-baked Indian temple complex, all carved stone, coiled cobras and the odd glint of treasure. I’ll give the art department their due: it looks the part. The symbols are crisp, the pearl scatter guarded by two golden snakes is a genuinely handsome bit of work, and the ambient score does that low, drum-and-flute thing that makes you feel like something is about to happen even when nothing is. Play’n GO have a house style at this point, and this is a polished, on-brand entry. It’s also, if I’m honest, the fourteenth variation on a room I’ve spun through before. Competent. Not surprising.

How it plays

Standard 5x3 grid, 20 fixed paylines, stakes from 0.20 to 100. Wins pay via cascades: winning symbols vanish, new ones drop in, and a multiplier meter on the right ticks up through x1, x2, x4, x6 and x10 as consecutive cascades chain, resetting to x1 at the start of every new spin. That x10 base-game ceiling is the bit that keeps you leaning in during an otherwise quiet spin. Landing pay symbols also drops tokens into a collection meter, and that meter is doing double duty as a slow-burn tease toward the second feature. It’s busy in a good way, the screen always has something to point at, but the medium volatility means the rhythm is steady rather than spiky. You’ll get regular small-to-mid returns and a lot of near-misses on the collection.

The feature

Two of them, actually. The Free Spins round triggers on three pearl scatters for 10 spins, during which the pearls turn wild and the multiplier meter carries over, upgrading as you collect further pearls (every five collected also drops in five extra spins), maxing out at a tasty x50 and retriggering up to a hard cap of 50 spins. Separately, filling the token meter to 15 launches the Bonus Game, a three-stage temple crawl named the Wheel of Brahma, the Wall of Shiva, and the Statue of Vishnu. You spin rings, uncover tiles and hunt keys to advance deeper, chasing up to 750x. It’s a nice bit of variety, though the bonus-game ceiling being lower than the overall max is a slightly deflating detail once you clock it.

The numbers, straight

  • Max win: 2,000x your stake (verified across Play’n GO and multiple review sources)
  • RTP: 96.17% default, with lower operator variants (94.13%, 91.16%, 87.15%, 84.14%) in the wild, always check before you play
  • Volatility: Medium (Play’n GO rate it 5/10)
  • Reels/ways: 5 reels, 3 rows, 20 fixed paylines
  • Hit rhythm: Steady and forgiving; frequent small cascade wins, with the token collection dangling the Bonus Game as a slower carrot

Verdict

There’s nothing wrong with Pearls of Vishnu, and that’s sort of the problem. It’s handsome, it’s varied, it layers cascades, multipliers and two distinct features into a package that never bores you spin to spin. But a 2,000x cap in 2024 is modest, the RTP is dead average, and none of it lands as memorable a week later. It’s a solid Tuesday-night slot rather than a keeper. Worth a spin if you like the Rich Wilde furniture; skippable if you’ve spun the last dozen.

SlotWhizz rating: 3.0/5. A well-made, middle-of-the-road adventure whose modest ceiling and average 96.17% RTP mean the built-in house edge quietly grinds against you over time, exactly as designed.
