Fire Joker 100

I’ve reviewed enough fruit machines to know that “classic reimagined” usually means “we bolted a bigger number onto an old cabinet.” Fire Joker 100 is Play’n GO doing exactly that to a 2016 evergreen, and I’ll admit the maths glow-up is more interesting than I expected going in.

Theme & presentation

It’s a fruity, plain and simple. Cherries, lemons, plums, bells, sevens, and the grinning fire-wreathed joker himself, all sat on that familiar reddish diamond-patterned backdrop split by golden lines. Play’n GO have given the original a light polish rather than a rebuild: the win and feature triggers now flare up with a bit more heat, the animations catch the eye a touch more. It’s tasteful. It’s also completely unambitious visually, and if you’ve seen the first Fire Joker you’ve essentially seen this one. No complaints, no fireworks either.

How it plays

Three reels, three rows, five paylines, stakes running from a modest minimum up to a hefty ceiling. This is a slot you can play with your brain switched off, and I mean that mostly as a compliment. Stacked symbols do the heavy lifting here, so a lot of spins either whiff completely or drop a full screen of matching fruit. The rhythm is chunky rather than trickly, which suits the format. There’s no clutter, no ways-pays gimmickry, no forced tutorials. Spin, watch, repeat.

The feature

Two named features carry the game. First is the Respin of Fire: land two reels fully stacked with matching symbols (wilds count) on a non-winning spin, and the odd reel spins again while the other two lock, giving you a free shot at completing the combo. It’s the same nudge-toward-a-win mechanic longtime players will recognise. The headline act, and the reason for the “100” in the name, is the Multiplier Wheel, sometimes billed as the Wheel of Fire. Fill all three reels with matching stacked symbols and a wheel awards a multiplier of x2, x3, x5, x10, x20, or x100 applied to that spin’s win. That top x100 is the whole pitch: the original topped out at x10, so this is a genuine, meaningful upgrade rather than marketing noise.

Verdict

Fire Joker 100 is a competent, honest little upgrade. The x100 wheel gives the old machine a top-end it never had, the medium volatility keeps sessions from feeling brutal, and the hit rate stops you nodding off. But it’s still a five-line fruity with thin features and no real depth, and the 94.21% tier is a chunk below the 96.21% Play’n GO can offer, so where you play matters a lot. Worth a spin if you like classics; not a game I’d go out of my way for. And don’t be fooled comparing it to something like 1429 Uncharted Seas, whose famous ~98.6% RTP and low volatility make it a far kinder ride for your bankroll than this ever will be.
