I’ve reviewed enough Big Bass slots to catch the theme by scent alone, and 3 Reeler is exactly what the name promises: the same wader-clad fisherman, the same dockside sunset, the same jaunty banjo loop, now crammed onto a compact 3x3 grid. Pragmatic Play (2024, built with studio Reel Kingdom) hasn’t tried to reinvent anything here. The Money Symbol fish still flap around wearing their cash values like price tags, the reels still clunk into place with that satisfying classic-slot thud, and the whole thing looks tidy without ever looking special. It’s comfort food. If you’ve played Big Bass Bonanza, you already know the wallpaper.

How it plays

This is where the “3 Reeler” bit earns its keep. You get three reels, three rows, and just five paylines, so the base game is stripped-down and fast. Spins resolve quickly, wins land in small, frequent-ish dribbles, and the whole thing has an old-fashioned fruit-machine rhythm that I genuinely warmed to. There’s an Ante Bet that raises your wager to grease the scatter frequency. It’s simple to the point of being a little thin between features, and if you need constant stimulation the base game will bore you. I didn’t mind it.

The feature

The headline act is the Free Spins round, triggered by three scatters for 10 spins (extra scatters on the top row add two each and on the middle row add one each). Inside, the Wild Fisherman does the heavy lifting: every Wild that lands scoops up the values of all visible Money Symbols. Collect four Wilds and you retrigger, adding spins and stepping the collection multiplier up the ladder, 2x, then 3x, then a full 10x on the third retrigger. There’s also a Super Free Spins buy for the impatient, where the ladder tops out higher and retriggers land faster. It’s the exact Big Bass loop, faithfully ported, and it’s still the only part of the game that gets the pulse going. Everything hinges on chaining those retriggers before the spins run dry, which they usually do.

Verdict

Big Bass Bonanza 3 Reeler is a competent, unambitious remix. The classic-slot format is a nice change of pace, the Wild Fisherman feature still delivers when it fires, and 5,000x is a respectable-if-unremarkable ceiling for this series. But it adds nothing you can’t get from the fuller Big Bass games, and that variable RTP is a genuine irritation. For high-RTP comfort, something like 1429 Uncharted Seas (a famously generous ~98.6% RTP, low volatility) will treat your bankroll far more kindly over time, though its own max win is far smaller, so you’re trading ceiling for staying power. This one’s fine, not essential.
