5 Pots O' Riches

I’ve played enough leprechaun slots to fill a small pot of gold with regret, so I sat down with Blueprint Gaming’s 5 Pots O’ Riches (2022) fully expecting green felt, gold coins, and a fiddle jig on loop. I got all three. What I didn’t expect was to actually enjoy the Prize Reel gimmick.

Theme & presentation

It’s Irish luck by the numbers: rolling emerald hills, a grinning leprechaun, horseshoes, and five gold pots glinting at the top of the screen. Blueprint’s art is clean and bright without being garish, and the whole thing has that polished-but-familiar look their studio does well. Charming? Sure. Original? Absolutely not. If you’ve seen one leprechaun reel, you’ve broadly seen this one’s wardrobe.

How it plays

Standard 5x3 grid, 20 fixed paylines, wins left to right. Nothing exotic on the base game. The twist sits above the reels: a horizontal Prize Reel running across the top. When a leprechaun lands on a main reel and lines up with a symbol on that Prize Reel, you collect whatever it’s pointing at, cash prizes, extra features, or the free spins trigger. It’s a neat way to inject moments of anticipation into otherwise ordinary spins.

There’s also the Leprechaun Bet: pay 25% more per spin and you unlock an extra shaded row beneath the reels where leprechauns can appear, giving you more chances to hit the Prize Reel. It doesn’t form regular wins, it just buys you more feature frequency. Blueprint is refreshingly upfront that the RTP stays the same either way, so it’s a variance choice, not a value one.

The feature

The main event is free spins. Trigger it and you spin a wheel that hands you a number of spins (roughly 10 to 30) and a flat multiplier (around 2x to 5x) applied to every win for the round. Land more leprechauns during the feature and you can top up your spin count. It’s a tidy loop: a generous multiplier draw with plenty of spins is where the session’s real damage, good or bad, gets done.

• Max win: Disputed. Blueprint’s own material list it as N/A; third-party sites variously claim 2,500x, 10,000x, or even 50,000x. I couldn’t confirm a single authoritative figure, so treat any specific ceiling with suspicion.
• RTP: 95.5% (single tier, unchanged by the Leprechaun Bet)
• Volatility: Contested, medium by most aggregators, “high” per one database’s table. It plays medium-ish to me in the demo.
• Reels / paylines: 5x3 plus Prize Reel, 20 fixed lines
• Hit rhythm: Steady small hits on the base game; the Prize Reel and free spins carry the excitement

Verdict

5 Pots O’ Riches is a competent, likeable leprechaun slot lifted a notch by the Prize Reel and the honest Leprechaun Bet mechanic. But that 95.5% RTP is below the modern sweet spot, the theme is well-worn, and the biggest single knock is the murky max-win figure, when nobody can agree on the ceiling, I struggle to get excited about the climb. Fun to spin, not one I’d chase.
